smoking. tradition we started when we were kids, because we thought it was cool. The same habit that then haunts us for the rest of our lives. We spend every day since that first breath of choking, foul tasting smoke regretting that first cigarette. How many of you smokers, knowing what I know now, would you smoke your first cigarette? None of you right? I thought so. I smoked my first cigarette when I was 13 years. One of the saddest election I've ever made.
So why do we smoke, we know that if you never wanted to smoke in the first place? The answer is simple really - habits and associations
.organizations look first. When we were kids and teenagers have smoked, because we see their parents, older children and maybe some movie stars smoking. We are associated with smoking to be an adult, famous or desirable. That's how it is displayed. dying hero always asked for a cigarette in the last moments. Our parents always smoked a cigarette to relax or when under pressure. We looked at older children who smoked and somehow, incredibly real, it looked cool blowing smoke through his nose.
When we were younger we all wanted to grow up quickly, and smoking is seen as a quick path to that goal. We should look more grown up, a little cooler and maybe even be able to relax a little more than smoking. Now when you're sitting there reading this does not it make more sense to have started smoking? Shocked? It's always strange when we saw the real reasons behind our first cigarette.
Whether the association is broken? Of course. Hypnosis can help as can be Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). Sometimes it reassociation can occur within us when we realized how incredibly uncool and unhealthy smoking really is.
Now we will discuss the habit. We smoke out of habit more than any other reason. Ask most smokers why they actually smoke. Ask them for the real 'why' behind their smoking. You'll find that most of them smoke out of habit. wont be that smoke, when they get bored. Or wont be that they smoke when they feel stressed. Or another habit (I was guilty of this) is that they smoke when they can not sleep. Regardless of the reasons smoking is still common.
Can habits be broken? Of course they can. Dogs can be house trained. Children can be 'trained' to not bite your nails. Smoking is the same type of behavior. So how can you break the habit? The easiest step is to understand that smoking is 90% psychological and physical, about 10%. You May not agree with this, but how else can I quit smoking cold turkey and did not feel any of the withdrawal symptoms and cravings I get? Simple. I accepted the reality that smoking is a psychological rather than chase physical dependence.
If I can break these associations and habits I am confident that you can too.
